Fort Stockton – A safe house in the works for Fort Stockton is getting closer to reality for the community.
The city of Fort Stockton recently agreed to sell land and utilities for the safe house for $1,000 and a donation of $5,000 from the Big Bend Open Road Race.
The Pecos County Sheriff’s Office reports that more than half of their calls are domestic-violence related.
The safe house is a place where victims of domestic violence and child abuse can go to feel safe and receive counseling, food, clothing and any medical attention they might need.
