Odessa-The ECISD Board of Trustees voted last night to join MCH, The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and the Odessa Housing Corporation in a $27 million housing project in downtown Odessa.
ECISD would pay $3.25 million of that to get 100 of those units to use for their teachers from out of town.
“This would be a tool to recruit new teachers to the area,” ECISD spokesperson Mike Adkins said.
But there is no word yet on how the school board will decide who gets to live in those 75 units.
A studio apartment is $632, a one bedroom is $842 per month. The school board says that is lower than average rent prices in our area.
The Texas University Health Sciences Center representatives say they have not yet invested in the project, but are interested in working to secure units for its staff.
