Former Permian Swim Coach Arrested, Charged with Improper Relationship with Student 6/12/13

Ector County District Attorney Bobby Bland issues the following statement:
On Monday, June 10, 2013, Katheryn Maples was indicted for 3 counts of improper relationship between educator and student.
The 3 counts include sending sexually explicit pictures as well as online solicitation of a student. District Attorney Bobby Bland specifically requested this file be turned over to him from the Ector County Independent School District. ECISD Police cooperated with the District Attorney’s office.
District Attorney Bobby Bland was able to obtain sufficient information to formally charge the defendant. Katheryn Maples was arrested Wednesday morning by District Attorney Chief Investigator Joe Commander along with the U. S. Marshalls.
ODESSA - A former Permian swim coach has now been arrested.
Odessa Police say the U.S. Marshall's arrested Kathryn Maples earlier today.
CBS 7 confirmed with the Ector County Sheriff’s Office that Maples has been charged with improper relationship between an educator and student.
Her bond has been set at $60,000.
Maples resigned earlier this year as the Permian swim coach after allegations of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
ECISD Police did not find enough evidence to formally charge her.
