ECTOR COUNTY-It was a day of upsets in Ector County. Teri Ervin took position two from Fay Batch.
In position four, Doyle Woodall soared past incumbent Tom Pace with a hefty percentage of voters.
“Voters want to see more discipline in the classroom, they want to see our children succeed more in the classroom,” Woodall said.
Another upset in position five with Steve Brown just barely beating incumbent Yollie Wilkins.
“I look forward to working with other members of the board to move ECISD forward in a positive way,” said Brown. “It was a close race.”
The race for open position number seven easily went to Nelson Minyard.
“Looking for a new superintendent is a huge deal, we’ve got $129 million allocated for schools,” said Minyard. “So we have big building projects on the way.”
And the only contested seat on the Odessa College board was snagged by newcomer Tommy Clark.
“We ran a really tough, clean race and a lot of people worked really hard, and I look forward to continuing the great things already going on at Odessa College,” said Clark.
One of the ECISD Board of Trustees’ first big issues will be the search for a new superintendent. Their first meeting will be may 21st.
