Fund Set Up For to Help Midland Dispatcher's Family After Accident 5/9/13
MIDLAND - The City of Midlandís Public Safety Communications Center is asking the community to help support one of its own after a tragic accident.
Dispatcher Peter Karthís family, formerly of Midland, was involved in a collision with multiple vehicles just outside of Athens, Georgia over the weekend while driving from North Carolina to Dallas for his sisterís wedding on Saturday. Peterís mother and 15-year-old brother were taken to a hospital in Athens, where his brother was initially treated for a concussion and his mother later woke from a medically-induced sleep. His two sisters, ages 13 and 17, were the other two occupants of the car. The 17-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was airlifted to a hospital before succumbing to her injuries.
City employees are raising money to assist the Karth family with medical bills and allow the family, which includes six siblings not involved in the accident, to attend the funeral in Michigan.
An account has been set up at Wells Fargo under the name of Rebekah J. Karth, with the secondary name of Benefit Karth Family. Donors should write the name Rebekah J. Karth on the deposit slip for donations and include their name as well.
