FT. STOCKTON-The City of Ft. Stockton is working on installing a monitor well to see if water in the deep, Capitan Reef is of good enough quality to sell to the City of Odessa.
But officials with the Middle Pecos Groundwater Conservation District say the drilling of the well has encountered some problems.
Paul Weatherby of MPGCD says the borehole caved in this week and the project was stalled while crews cemented the hole.
They will now have to drill a new hole in the cemented portion of the first borehole. No word yet on how far back the project is now set.
It will take approximately 20 days from getting the well up and running to receive test results back on the quality of the water.
