Hot Today! But Big Changes Tomorrow! 4/30/13
Tuesday Morning Weather Update
Greg Morgan Ė Chief Meteorologist
A mostly sunny and very warm day is expected across West Texas. Highs will be in the lower to mid 90ís across the Permian Basin. The Trans Pecos will see highs in the mid to upper 90ís and a few locations along the Rio Grande could easily reach above 100 degrees.
Another hot day is expected for most of the day on Wednesday. However, a cold front moving into the region late Wednesday evening will change things up in a big way! Strong winds, colder temperatures and even a chance of thunderstorms will all be in the offing.
The front will arrive late Wednesday afternoon. Winds will increase behind the front. Speeds of 30-40mph will be common. Wind gusts to around 55mph donít appear to be out of the question! A chance of thunderstorms is expected along and behind the front overnight. Should rain become realized, it might keep the blowing dust to a minimum. However, it is likely that blowing dust will occur.
Temperatures will plunge behind the front! Look for a drop from the mid 90ís to around 40 degrees overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning. Highs on Thursday will only reach the mid 50ís.
The winds on Thursday will die down through the day as the front advances south and east. Look for very cold temperatures on Friday morning! Lows will likely drop into the mid 30ís. A light freeze isnít out of the question for the northern parts of the Permian Basin.
