Midland – Midland will be getting a new fire station in the coming months.
Midland City Council approved an advertisement for bids on construction of a new fire station earlier this week.
City Council approved plans and specifications and authorized advertisement for bids for the construction of Fire Station 10 in the 4500 block of Sinclair Avenue.
Rather than the traditional method of using land the City had already required, the Midland Fire Department was able to choose this location according to call volume and service demands in the area.
City Council authorized staff to seek a firm to provide the design, plans, specifications and architectural services for the demolition and new expanded construction of Fire Stations 5 and 6 at their current locations.
The funding for these projects is expected to come from the issuance of Certificates of Obligation (C.O.) bonds in 2014.
