Texas Trial Tied to Wrongful Conviction Nears End 3/27/13
SAN ANGELO, Texas - A murder trial linked to the well-known wrongful
conviction of a Central Texas man is nearing its conclusion.
Closing arguments are expected Wednesday in the trial of Mark Alan Norwood,
charged with the 1986 slaying of Christine Morton in her Georgetown home.
Morton's husband, Michael Morton, served nearly 25 years in prison for her death
before DNA evidence exonerated him and linked Norwood to the crime.
Jurors in San Angelo have heard from Michael Morton as well as evidence
about another similar slaying in which Norwood is also charged.
Morton's case has received international attention, and the prosecutor in
his case is now a judge accused of hiding evidence from Morton's trial
Publicity in the case led a judge to move Norwood's case to San Angelo.
