Late Winter Storm Sends Snow, Sleet to New England 3/19/13
BOSTON - A last blast of winter is blowing through the Northeast, with snow and sleet delaying the start of school in some areas and making the morning commute an icy, slippery mess a day before spring starts.
Some schools in upstate New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut are closed today, the last day of winter.
The forecasts call for as much as 20 inches of snow in parts of northern New England, with lesser amounts mixed with freezing rain further south.
The wintry mix is causing traffic slowdowns for commuters around the region.
Power outages have been at a minimum today.
