Scurry Co - A call to the Scurry County Sheriff's Office leads deputies to a site near Lake J.B. Thomas where they recovered a badly decomposed body.
It has turned into a multiple agency investigation and its also rekindled interest in the case of a missing Colorado City teenager, Hailey Dunn.
It's a familiar situation for friends and family of missing teenager Hailey Dunn, waiting by the phone while law enforcement investigate a body found in a field. It's an experience they went through a year ago.
"We're praying it's not Hailey," a spokesperson for Hope for Hailey said.
The call came into the Scurry County Sheriff's Office Saturday afternoon. Since then, investigators have been filing into Scurry County. Searching for more bones and clues.
"They spent the remainder of Saturday, all day Sunday and today still looking for the remains of the person and any kind of clues that may have been left behind," DPS Trooper Sparky Dean said.
The remains were so badly decomposed that neither an age nor gender can be determined right now.
At this point, only an autopsy can reveal whom the remains belong to.
"Everything is possible. We're not going to say 'no.' we don't know one way or the other," Trooper Dean said.
After hearing the news, the family of Hailey Dunn traveled to Snyder to be together.
"They're doing as well as could be expected," a spokesperson for Hope for Hailey said.
Family members say all they can do now is pray and hold out hope for Hailey.
