UNDATED - Carolina can take over first place in the NHL Southeast Division with a win tonight over the Rangers in New York. The Hurricanes start the night trailing first-place Winnipeg by just a point, and the Jets have the night off. Neither the Hurricanes nor Rangers are doing all that well right now. New York has lost three straight and four of five, while Carolina has dropped two in a row. This is the first of three meetings this season between the clubs.
The top two teams in the Northwest Division are facing off tonight in Vancouver as the Canucks entertain the Wild. Both the Canucks and Wild start the game with 32 points, tied for first place in the division. Tonight's game is the fourth and final meeting of the season between the two teams with the Canucks having won the first two games and the Wild the third.
Rounding out tonight's NHL schedule, the Flyers are at Tampa Bay, Dallas is home to Calgary, the Blackhawks play the Avalanche in Denver, San Jose is at Anaheim and the Kings are playing host to the Coyotes.
