NEW YORK - Could the Dow be going for ten in a row?
The blue-chip stock index has risen for nine straight days, and it's opened higher again this morning after some numbers released by the government added to optimism about the economy.
The Labor Department says fewer Americans sought unemployment benefits, bringing the average number of weekly applications last month to a five-year low.
Economists had expected weekly jobless claims to rise.
And although rising gasoline prices helped push overall wholesale prices higher, those prices have still risen just 1.7 percent in the past 12 months.
