MIDLAND, TX – Midland Mayor Wes Perry made an appearance on National Television to discuss the Tall City's thriving economy. Mayor Perry was invited onto the Fox Business Channel in New York City to talk about Midland having the nation's lowest unemployment rate. He tells me west Texans should be proud.

Midland's 3.4 percent unemployment rate has all eyes on west Texas.

"I think it's really important that we tell the story of energy and how it's not only good for our area but for the entire country,” said Mayor Wes Perry, City of Midland.

"It's actually really wonderful that people are starting to recognize nationally and internationally the wealth and resources that Midland has to offer," said Nellwyn Barnett, Vice President, Public Relations.

But as we know, the growth has put strain on housing availability and infrastructure.

“That's our biggest problem is housing and traffic, how do we grow not just bigger but better that's the challenge that we have most," said Mayor Perry.

"We have every indication that this is sustainable growth trend and rather then looking at getting through it's a matter of let's adapt so that we can grow with the economic growth," said Barnett.

The overall theme of the interview was: opportunity in west Texas.

"That’s a great word: opportunity we do have those opportunities that's why I call Midland the entrepreneurial capital of the world because it really is a place to come and make a difference," said Mayor Perry.

Mayor Perry says we're the role models for the rest of the country when it comes to business and that's being noticed around the nation and the world.
