Heat Take the Night Off Before Looking for No. 19 3/11/13
UNDATED - Now that the Chicago Blackhawks have lost, the Miami Heat are the hottest team in sports. The club led by LeBron James won its 18th straight game last night, beating Indiana 105-91. The Heat are now 47-14, just one win shy of tying San Antonio for the most wins in the NBA. This evening the Heat have the night off before entertaining the Hawks Tuesday night.
The Spurs can pad their lead over Miami and Oklahoma City with a win tonight over the Thunder in the Alamo city. The Spurs are 48-15 while the visiting Thunder are 47-16. Oklahoma City is on a five-game winning streak and faces a Spurs team that is 25-4 at home this season. The Spurs top the Southwest Division while the Thunder lead the Northwest. This is the third meeting of the season between the two Western Conference rivals. They have split the first two.
Brooklyn has the fourth-best mark in the NBA East and tonight the 37-26 Nets are on the road for a game in Philadelphia. The 76ers have dropped five in a row while the Nets have won their last three.
Rounding out tonight's schedule, Brooklyn's closest rival for supremacy of the Atlantic Division, New York, is at Golden State. The Knicks lead the Nets by 2 ½ games. Denver is at Phoenix and the Utah Jazz are home to Detroit.
