CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - A bird from the Texas State Aquarium has
apparently flown the coop.
The Corpus Christi Caller-Times reports (http://bit.ly/16kkqXB ) that
aquarium officials on Sunday continued looking for Piper, a trumpeter hornbill.
Piper was last spotted flying around the Port of Corpus Christi in South Texas
on Saturday.
The female bird is recognizable by its disproportionately large beak, with a
gray, hornlike projection on top.
Trumpeter hornbills are common in warm, coastal forests in southern Africa,
said aquarium spokesman Richard Glover.
Anyone who sees Piper is asked to call 361-881-1215.
