Odessa - Medical Center Hospital is working to provide help and support for those who have survived a stroke.
Today the Medical Center Health System met with a group of stroke survivors, along with caregivers, area nurses and family members.
The stroke support groups theme today was casino.
Today the group talked about exercising. Organizers say exercising often will help stroke survivors on the road to recovery.
"Our stroke support group expressed an interest. Of course they already have a risk factor. So they are interested in improving their chances of not having any more events. They don't want to have any more strokes, heart attacks, so exercise is a big way of improving the quality of life," Karry Morris, a Medical Center Hospital nurse said.
The group meets every second Saturday of each month at Mission Fitness off of east Highway 191 near Faudree Road.
