DALLAS - The former corporate spokesman for computer game retailer
Gamestop has been sentenced to prison after admitting to defrauding the company
out of almost $2 million.
Frank Christopher Olivera was vice president of corporate communications and
public affairs for the Grapevine, Texas-based retailer. A federal judge in
Dallas sentenced him to 4 years and 3 months in prison after pleading guilty to
mail fraud.
Court documents show Olivera has repaid most of the money he took, but U.S.
District Judge Jane Boyle ordered him to pay more than $57,000 left unpaid and
more than $77,000 in additional restitution.
He could have been sentenced to up to 20 years in federal prison and fined
up to $250,000.
