It's a 30-year tradition at a local elementary school where students rely on endurance and strategy to come out victorious! Star wars is a hula hoop contest with a twist
Students storm into the gym ready to battle it out and see who will take home this year's most coveted trophy. After a quick warm up...it's on. This is a game of endurance and strategy.
Each student comes to the competition with a different style. Some go for the slant. Others prefer the secret saunter. They hop on one foot, bounce on two and always pump those arms. The goal...to reach the full velocity of your spin and battle to victory.
The real common denominator at star wars is the face. It's all determination and intensity. This has become such a time-tested tradition, even Reagan alumni come back home...to participate in one final battle.
Coach Michael Neiman is the force behind this star wars event. And in case you've never tried to spin this tiny plastic hoop around your waist - it's a workout.
In the end, students have put forth maximum effort. And everyone walks away with a lasting memory, as they start planning strategies and alliances for next year.
