Brewster County Remains Could be Homicide 3/7/13

Alpine Avalanche
3/7/13

ALPINE - Human skeletal remains that were found on Bullis Gap Ranch on Feb. 26, may be from a man who was killed while transporting narcotics through the area said Brewster County Sheriff Ronny Dodson.

In December, the Brewster County Sheriffs Office (BCSO) was contacted by the U.S. Marshals Service with information about a possible homicide.
The information came from a federal prisoner who claimed that the man had been killed while carrying drugs.
The prisoner said it happened near the Cox Ranch, which covers parts of both Brewster and Pecos counties.

“They contacted us because the Cox Ranch is in Brewster County and we had a big search with helicopters, but [Marshals] determined by talking to the prisoner on the phone that it probably happened further north in Pecos County,” Dodson said.

That was the end of the sheriff’s involvement, but now BCSO working with the Marshals to see if the prisoner can be brought back to the area to help pinpoint where the incident happened.
