SAN ANTONIO - Tim Duncan had 18 points and 10 rebounds last night as the San Antonio Spurs beat the Chicago Bulls 101-83. Manu Ginobili also scored 18 points for the Spurs and Tiago Splitter added a double-double. Marco Belinelli had 19 points and Luol Deng added 19 for the Bulls.
DALLAS - Dirk Nowitzki scored 22 points last night as the Dallas Mavericks bounced back from a blowout loss in Houston with a 112-108 victory over the Rockets. O.J. Mayo added 13 points and a career-high 12 assists for the Mavericks. James Harden had 28 points and Chandler Parsons scored 23 for the Rockets.
SURPRISE, Ariz. - Pitcher Derek Lowe has agreed to a minor league deal with the Texas Rangers. The 39-year-old right-hander is expected to report to spring training tomorrow. Lowe went a combined 9-11 with a 5.11 ERA for Cleveland and the New York Yankees last year.
LUBBOCK, Texas - New Texas Tech football coach Kliff Kingsbury will make his debut in front of a national television audience against SMU. The university announced yesterday the Red Raiders will face SMU in Dallas on August 30th and ESPN will carry the game. Kingsbury took over the program in December.
