Washington - The Senate Judiciary Committee is preparing today for Congress' first votes on curbing firearms since December's shootings at a Connecticut elementary school.
President Barack Obama's prospects for winning near-universal background checks for gun purchases seems shaky, even if it gets to full Senate consideration.
