MIDLAND, TX - City leaders in the Tall City are meeting to discuss key issues facing Midland with the hopes of finding solutions. The population boom is no doubt putting a big demand on the city and managing the growth wisely is critical. Midland city officials say that's at the top of the priority list. City council, city staff and various boards and commissions are meeting the next two days for the tall city's annual city council retreat; a critical planning time for Midland.
"Make sure that everyone is on the same page, different goals and projects, we need to work on the goals and directions that the council wants us to work on," said Courtney Sharp, Midland City Manager.
Sharp says figuring out how to best managing growth, addressing traffic concerns and the housing shortage are the goals for this year. The retreat is Wednesday and Thursday, from 9am to 3pm at the Junior League of Midland. The meeting is open to the public.
