Press Release

One person was sent to the hospital with minor injuries after a driver failed to yield right-of-way at a red light on Monday.

Midland Police Department responded to the accident at approximately 4:26 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 191 and FM 1788.

A work truck was headed northbound at the intersection and disobeyed a red light signal while turning left, causing it to collide with a pickup headed southbound. The impact caused the pickup to be pushed over a guardrail into northbound traffic, where it struck a blue Nissan Sentra. The driver of the Nissan was sent to Midland Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

UPDATE 5:04 P.M.

Northbound 1788 was backed up between 1 and 2 miles on FM 1788 due to the wreck underneath the 191 overpass.

The accident involved between 2 and 4 cars, including a Nissan sedan and a Chevy pickup. One person has been transported to the hospital, but their condition is not yet known.

Southbound 1788 has just been reopened and Northbound remains closed under the overpass.
