MIDLAND-A church geared especially towards the homeless is coming to Midland.
The simple concept started in Austin. The idea is to create a church that meets outside in areas easily accessible to the homeless.
Organizers say it’s a challenge to bring the homeless into brick-and-mortar churches, so they are taking action.
“They don't feel welcome, they feel like their outcasts and so what better way than to take this to them where they’re comfortable in their environment--in their element,” said Evan Rogers, co-founder of Church Under the Bridge Midland.
The group met today with the founder of a successful Church Under the Bridge in Tyler, who says their church has already helped get countless area homeless back on their feet.
Rogers says they are scouting locations across the city. Their first service is scheduled for Saturday, May 3rd.
