UPDATE: Two Injured in Midland Vehicle Chase, Rollover 3/1/13
MIDLAND - Two people were sent to the hospital after a driver initiated a traffic pursuit and rolled his vehicle early Friday morning.
A Midland Police Department officer observed a silver Mazda6 traveling the wrong way in the 600 block of West Illinois Avenue at approximately 12:08 a.m. Friday. When the officer attempted to lawfully detain the vehicle, the driver of the vehicle intentionally disobeyed and engaged police in a pursuit.
The driver fled eastbound on Illinois Avenue, reaching speeds of approximately 92 mph. As the driver attempted to turn left to head eastbound on Front Street, he lost control, causing the vehicle to roll approximately three times.
The driver and passenger were ejected from the vehicle and both transported to Midland Memorial Hospital; the driver had life-threatening injuries, and the passengerís injuries were minor.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash.
