Body of South Texas Attorney Found in Bay 3/1/13

Associated Press

MCALLEN, Texas - The body of a South Texas attorney sentenced to
federal prison for bribing a judge has been found after a driver said he saw the
man jump from the Queen Isabella Causeway in an apparent suicide.

Authorities say a taxi driver reported seeing a man jump into Laguna Madre
about 4 a.m. Thursday. Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio said family members
identified a body found late Thursday afternoon as 56-year-old Ray Marchan.

Marchan was to report Thursday to a federal prison in Fort Worth to begin
serving a 3½-year sentence. Court records show a judge on Wednesday denied
Marchan's emergency motion for bond pending appeal.

Marchan was convicted of racketeering for bribing former state District
Judge Abel Limas and had been allowed to remain free until he reported to
prison.
