McCamey – McCamey voters will decide if a new hospital will be built in their town in the May election.

The McCamey Hospital Board decided in last night’s meeting to call for a bond election that would provide the funds to build a new hospital.

McCamey Hospital officials tell CBS 7 that they are looking at $20 million bond. Broaddus and Associates out of Austin will be the project managers. They presented several plans to hospital officials. Plans they are looking at are around 6,000 sq ft.

The new facility would house both the hospital and nursing home.

The current building has served the community of McCamey for nearly 45 years and has served it well. However, due to the ever changing world of technology and structural problems, hospital administrators say it's time for an upgrade.
