Warmer And Less Wind Today 2/26/13

Tuesday Morning Weather Update
Greg Morgan – Chief Meteorologist

Sunny skies and warmer temperatures are expected for most locations. A few spots south of Interstate 10 will see partly cloudy skies. Look for highs in the 60’s for most. A few locations in the Trans Pecos will see highs in the 70’s. Winds will be much calmer than yesterday. Look for a southwest wind at 10-15mph this afternoon.

A storm system, now over the Rocky Mountains will drift southeast into the Texas Panhandle later tonight. While this storm will bring another inch or two of snow to the Panhandle. The net effect for our area will be a cold front and breezy winds along that front. Look for northerly winds and cooler temperatures on Wednesday. Highs will only be in the mid 50’s. Winds will not be as strong as Monday’s front. Expect a north wind at 10-20mph for most locations.

Cooler conditions will continue through the rest of the workweek, as another front moves in on Thursday. Highs will be in the lower to mid 50’s both on Thursday and Friday.

Temperatures will begin to warm this weekend as an upper level high pressure ridge becomes established and southwesterly winds evolve. However, the winds will begin to increase by Sunday and Monday. The next upper level storm looks to arrive around Tuesday of next week. That will bring the next round of active weather.
