Strong Winds Tomorrow 2/23/13
Saturday Evening Weather Update
Greg Morgan – Chief Meteorologist
A pleasant day evolved despite a cold start to the morning. However, a strong storm system driving out of the Rockies will set off a big round of wind on Sunday and shoot a cold front into the region by Monday.
Look for calmer winds and overnight lows in the mid 30’s tonight. Winds will be out of the south at 5-10mph through about 9am. Winds will start to increase through the morning hours on Sunday. Expect highs in the 70’s as westerly winds increase 20-30mph with higher gusts.
A cold front will move into the region on Monday. This will bring a shot of much colder air to West Texas. A few snow showers are even possible across Lea County in SE New Mexico on Sunday night. Look for strong winds to continue on Monday as the front advances eastward across Texas.
Tuesday will be just a little warmer but only for a day. Another cold front will drop into the region on Wednesday. Look for a cold front roughly every other day through the week, meaning temperatures will be up and down from day to day. In general, highs will be in the 50’s and 60’s. Lows will be in the 20’s and 30’s.
