Gardendale - Ector County Sheriff Mark Donaldson told Closer Look today that he not making any assumption in the death of a three year old adopted Russian child until the autopsy is complete. The boy, Max Shatto, was last seen playing with his seven year old brother when his mother says she found him in the yard, unresponsive. He was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived at Medical Center hospital in Odessa. The death comes at a time when Russia has closed adoptions to Americans amid accusation of child abuse. A Russian newspaper called for the arrest of the mother. The Russians claim they are investigating the case. Sheriff Donaldson says he doesn't know anything about that. The sheriff says he's "treating this case like he would any West Texas boy who dies under unusual circumstances." Donaldson says his biggest problem has been dealing with all the media calls he's gotten. He told Closer Look the next step in the case is to get the results of the autopsy being performed in Tarrant County.
