Film Shot Entirely in Marfa Being Featured in Austin 2/21/13

CBS7 News
Feburary 21, 2013

A film that was shot entirely in Marfa and featured a cast and crew largely made up of local talent is going to be featured at the Stateside at the Paramount in Austin.

The film, "Far Marfa", i directed by Cory Van Dyke and is being billed as the first feature film to be shot entirely in the city of Marfa and with mostly local talent for its cast and crew.

An online synopsis for the film states, "Carter Frazier is scared, but you wouldn't know it from the smile on his face. You may say he's lazy, jobless, broke, and not acting his age, but you wouldn't say he's scared. That's because he keeps his distance from the world. He doesn't put himself on the line. He doesn't really feel it. But it's an un-lived life. He needs a shake-up. And it comes in the form of a lost work of modern art that a strange man gives him before killing himself. Or was it murder? The cops want to know, and that's not his only problem; just when Carter learns the artwork could be worth a fortune, and could change his life, it's gone."

There will be a question and answer with the filmmakers after the screening.
