Marlins' Stanton Feeling Better After Beaning 2/21/13
JUPITER, Fla. - Giancarlo Stanton says he's feeling better less than 24 hours after being hit in the helmet by a fastball from the Miami Marlins' top pitching prospect.
X-rays were negative with no sign of a concussion, and Stanton says his vision returned to normal after a few hours. He expects to play in the Marlins' first spring training game Saturday.
All of that was good news Thursday for the Marlins, and especially for 20-year-old Jose Fernandez, who is in his first major league spring training camp. Fernandez said he felt bad about the errant pitch and took some razzing from teammates for beaning the 2012 NL slugging champion.
