(Midland)- A former UPS employee who claimed the company discriminated against her because she was a woman has won a $600-thousand dollar verdict.

In Midland’s Federal Court, Amber Ibarra of Odessa sued UPS saying that the company made her deliver more packages than the men and also claimed she was fired after a wreck.

Her attorney's, Brian Carney and Holly Williams said there was also some name-calling directed toward her.

The jury handed down the verdict Wednesday evening.

Ibarra last worked for UPS in 2009.

Her attorney's say Judge Harry Lee Hudspeth will look over the award and will determine if front pay will also be awarded.

UPS must also pay attorney fees.
