Andrews Hires 1st African American Officer 2/20/13

ANDREWS, TX – The Andrews Police Department is reaching a new milestone by hiring the first African American police officer in the history of the department.
Marcus Bascus from Midland is the recent hire. Bascus has worked in the Houston area as an officer before moving back to West Texas.
The Andrews Police Department has female and Hispanic officers working there.
Police Chief Bud Jones says that this new addition to the team isn’t based on race, but choosing the best candidate for the job.
