Judge Sentences 4 in El Paso Public Corruption 2/20/13

EL PASO - A federal judge in West Texas has sentenced three people accused of participating in a public corruption scheme to prison terms and has given a fourth defendant probation.

The El Paso Times (http://bit.ly/WUL31Z ) reports that Judge Frank Montalvo announced Tuesday that El Paso attorney David Escobar and former Ysleta School District board member Milton Duntley will serve sentences of 41 months for participating in a scheme to fraudulently give more than $100 million in health insurance contracts to other defendants.

Former county commissioner and councilmember in El Paso Larry Medina received a 16-month prison sentence and will pay $156,000 in fines and restitution.

Former Ysleta school board member Linda Chavez was sentenced to five years of probation.
