DPS Working Fatal Crash in West Odessa 2/17/13

UPDATE: 9:09 PM
The DPS has released the following:
At 3:38 this afternoon, 51-year-old Scott Thomas Somers was pronounced dead at the scene by the Medical Examiner. His next of kin have been notified.
The passenger, 56-year-old Dale Piper of Odessa, remains in critical condition at Medical Center Hospital.
UPDATE: 4:44 P.M.
Odessa Fire/Rescue on the scene tells us the driver of the vehicle is deceased and that one unidentified passenger was transported to Medical Center Hospital in critical condition.
UPDATE 4:32 P.M.
The vehicle involved is a yellow Nissan pickup truck, according to our news crews and scanner traffic.
The truck appears to have been heading northbound on Tripp and crossed the southbound lane, hitting a lightpole.
The driver of the vehicle is an unidentified male, eyewitnesses say.
WEST ODESSA - The Odessa Police Department confirms DPS is working a fatal crash in West Odessa at North Tripp and West 23rd St.
No details yet about the vehicles involved in the crash. OPD has only confirmed one fatality at this time.
