ODESSA-A group of New Tech Odessa students were awarded a scholarship by UTPB's Black Leadership Council to participate in an HIV/AIDS and teen pregnancy workshop.

The New Tech students will be at Permian High School today and tomorrow presenting facts and research about the disease.

Susan McFarland, the New Tech instructor and Chair of Science Department, is in charge of the students and says it is a chance for students to learn from their peers.

"The UTPB folks knew of our work and enlisted our students to help them present to other high schoolers," said McFarland in an e-mail. "They thought peers would be more effective persuaders."
