Big Spring – Changes could be on the way for Big Spring ISD school board elections.
Trustees will discuss the changes in their regularly scheduled meeting tonight.
They will consider approval of a resolution, which would allow trustees to be elected by a simple plurality of votes. Right now trustees are elected by majority vote, which would allow for a run-off election.
School officials say the change would save the district money in the end.
A run-off election can cost the school district upwards of $4,000 and a poor turn out for those additional elections isn’t worth the cost, according to school officials.
