T-Storms Possible Tonight 2/11/13
Monday Morning Weather Update
Greg Morgan – Chief Meteorologist
A warm day is expected across the Permian Basin. Temperatures will climb into the upper 60’s and lower 70’s across the Permian Basin. Highs will be in the lower 70’s for most of the Trans Pecos. A few locations in the Presidio Valley will actually hit the lower 80’s. Skies will be partly cloudy and winds will shift to the southeast at 10-20mph.
A cold front will move into the northern parts of the area this evening. As southeast winds over-run the cold front and upper level support associated with an upper level storm over New Mexico increases, rain and thunderstorms will develop. The best chance of rain will be over the eastern part of the Permian Basin. However, a large part of our area will be impacted by the front.
Breezy winds and cooler temperatures are expected on Tuesday. The threat of rainfall will shift east on Tuesday and winds will become the big story. Highs will only reach the mid 50’s on Tuesday afternoon. Winds will be out of the Northwest at 15-25mph.
Wednesday and Thursday will be a bit warmer. Skies will be sunny to mostly sunny. Winds will become more southerly and highs will climb into the 60’s.
Another cold front will move into the area on Friday. This will bring temperatures down into the 40’s and 50’s for highs.
