Teen Cccused in Teacher Death to Stay in Hospital 2/9/13

Associated Press
February 9, 2013

TYLER - The teenager accused of stabbing an East Texas high
teacher to death in 2009 has been committed to a state hospital for one more
year.

The Tyler Morning Telegraph (http://bit.ly/W7Vs8l) reports that the
commitment hearing in district court took place Friday morning.

Judge Christi Kennedy found the teen, now 19, incompetent to stand trial and
ordered another year of commitment at Vernon State Hospital.

The teen is accused of killing special education teacher Todd Henry in
September 2009 by stabbing him multiple times in his classroom at John Tyler
High School.

Kennedy referenced a psychiatrist's report and a physician's certificate of
mental health that said the teen is mentally ill and likely to cause "serious
harm to others."

She also cited "recent issues" and "patterns of behavior."
