Development Projects Underway in Odessa 2/7/13

Odessa Economic Development Corporation:
∙Odessa College New additions are close to completion, with grand openings planned in the next few months. The revamped Sports Complex and the Culinary Arts buildings are close to completion. Fire training center and tower, Lifelong Learning Center (March 2013), Campus Center (July 2013), Wood Math and Science Bldg. (July 2013) and Vehicle Tech Center (August 2013)
∙UTPB Preparing for more than a year to make room and renovate the Mesa Bldg. for the nursing program that they expect to begin with 40 students in the fall. The 12,000 sq ft center will have 47 spaces and labs that will simulate a hospital facility at a cost of around $1 million. They are hoping for admission for the first class by Fall 2013.
∙Iron Guard Housing Had opened a major trailer park facility in West Odessa for 50 workers that feature Brand New Clayton Homes, 2 bdrm 2 baths, fully furnished, linen service, housekeeping and all utilities paid. For more information call 1-509-250-2779.
∙Sewell Family Dealerships Will partner with the German manufacturer for a Volkswagen franchise in Odessa. A temporary Volkswagen location will open on Eighth Street by the end of the month, will stock more than 100 vehicles. The franchise will break ground in spring 2013 at the Parks Legado Town Center on Highway 191.
∙Qmax Under contract to purchase a 5-acre tract in the OIDC South Industrial Park at the intersection of JBS Parkway and Navasota Drive for an expansion of their facilities.
∙Graybar Electric Under contract to purchase a 4-acre tract in the OIDC JBS Business Park on the east side of JBS Parkway for an electrical distribution warehouse.
∙Union Pacific Transload Facility Union Pacific is currently taking bids for a transload facility to be built on property they purchased last year that is east of JBS Parkway and south of Business IH-20. Construction is due to begin in May.
∙New apartments and townhouses City Council held its first public hearing for the approval of plans to build an apartment complex and townhouses southeast of the intersection of Tres Hermanes and Parks Legado Drive and south of the Lantana Garden Apartments that are currently under construction.
∙New subdivision Clearing is underway for a new single family subdivision that is located between San Machell Drive and Eastridge. This tract is between Vista La Paz and the Mission Dorado apartments.
∙Standard Sales Plans are underway for a new 150,000 sq. ft. distribution warehouse on a 20.3 acre tract in the OIDC JBS Business Park. This tract is south of the intersection of Pearl Street and JBS Parkway.
