Midland, TX - If you walk Nikki Turnbow's shoes you would know just how hard her job is. She is the president of Expert Pumping Unit Services.

“I’m just a woman in the oilfield,” she said, “I'm a woman living in a man's world, but us women are invading their world a little bit more than we used to be.”

She wasn't always calling the shots. Nicki started alongside with these men as a roustabout she says many were not used to a lady's presence.

“I was an employee right beside them,” she said, “I wasn't their an employer when I got to know a lot of them.”

According to The Permian Basin Workforce Solutions many more women like Nikki are getting into the oilfield industry. They say its not a glamorous job, but its a pretty paycheck.

“There's a lot of opportunity,” Nicki said.

She says there is no better time for a woman to join the oil and gas industry, but no matter what job it is or gender you are you have to have tough skin.

“There is some stuff that could be tough,” she said, “I don't see women moving drilling rigs.”

She says it’s easy to be tied down with work, but the thrill of the job and the people make it all worth it.

“My clients make the job enjoyable,” she said. “I love my job and wouldn't know anything else.”
