MIDLAND, TX - A booming economy with some challenges was the message of this year's state of the economy presentation in Midland. The Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual event today, which gives Midlanders an in-depth look at the economy. The key speaker was Andrew Nelson the C.O.O. of the commercial air travel company XCOR Aerospace, soon to call Midland their home. Nelson says the current economy provides opportunity but comes with responsibility.
"The challenge of growth and managing it is one of interest, if you do so in a smart way, thinking of the quality of the community and what you want not 10 years but 50 or 100 years from now will help on how the city leaders move forward," said Andrew Nelson, Chief Operating Officer, XCOR Aerospace.
City leaders say the major problems still are housing and the need for more employees to meet the demand of the job market.
