Accused Murderer Arrested While Celebrating Birthday 2/5/13

(Odessa)- What some would call fate or others might call poetic justice Monday night resulted in the arrest of an Odessa murder suspect.
Curtis Johnson reportedly was having a birthday celebration at an Odessa restaurant when he was spotted by a lawman who was also having dinner at the restaurant.
Ector County D.A. investigator Joe Commander recognized Johnson from a mug shot as the man wanted for the robbery murder of Odessan Evan Fitts.
Commander the contacted the U.S. Marshals for back-up and the pair arrested Johnson who was reportedly carrying a loaded gun in his pocket.
Johnson is accused of the robbery and murder of Evan Fitts near Sherwood Park in Odessa.
Alleged accomplice Trevor Atchinson was taken into custody following the murder in November of 2011.
Johnson is in jail under a half million dollar bond.
Atchiswon remains in jail charged with Capital Murder, Aggravated Robbery and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.
