Indictment Handed Down in Odessa Murder 2/5/13
Staff Report
ODESSA – A felony murder indictment had been handed down for Curtis Johnson, 19-years-old, in connection with the shooting death of 19-year-old Evan Fitts.
Back on Nov. 10, 2011, Fitts was found in a red truck that had smashed into two cars before hitting a house. He was rushed to the hospital and was where he was pronounced dead. It was later discovered that Fitts had been shot in the back. Police began a search for the other people who were in the truck with Fitts.
According to a press release from the Ector County District Attorney’s Office, Johnson’s indictment was handed down after new evidence was, “developed” by the D.A. showing, “Mr. Johnson as a main actor in the death of Mr. Fitts.”
Johnson was arrested last night and is being held on a $500,000 bond.
Back in Jan. 2012, Trevor Atchinson had already been indicted in connection with this case.
