City of Midland Road Closures and Traffic Alerts 2/1/13
Editor's Note: The following is a news release from the City of MidlandThe City of Midland Engineering Services Department has the following projects under construction. Road closures and traffic alerts for each project are listed below:
FY 2012 Mill & Overlay Project
Lamesa RoadThe contractor working for the City of Midland will continue the Mill/Overlay Project the week of Feb. 4. Lane closures will be used on Lamesa Road between Oak Avenue and Cottonwood Avenue while the contractor adjusts manhole lids and water valve lids to match the new pavement. Lane closures will also be used on Scharbauer Drive near Lamesa Road during the utility adjustment process. Two-way traffic will be maintained on Lamesa Road and Scharbauer Drive at all times, and all properties adjacent to the work zone will remain accessible.
Cuthbert Avenue The contractor working for the City of Midland will also continue the Mill/Overlay Project at Cuthbert Avenue between Andrews Highway and Midland Drive the week of Feb. 4. During the project, lane closures will be used on Cuthbert Avenue and streets adjacent to Cuthbert Avenue will be closed for short periods of time. Two-way traffic will be maintained on Cuthbert Avenue, and all properties adjacent to the work zone will remain accessible. Motorists are advised to avoid this work zone if possible.
Ward Street Bridge ReconstructionThe contractor working for the City of Midland is currently working on the resurfacing of the North alley along Jal Draw between Ward Street and Garfield Street Access to the alley will be limited to local residents only.
Hicks and Gist Sidewalk ConstructionThe contractor working for the City of Midland will continue sidewalk construction in vicinity of Midland Freshman School. Intermittent lane closures may occur during construction.
Sparks Park PavingThe contractor working for the City of Midland has been given a notice to proceed to begin paving in the Sparks Park Target Area. Paving improvements include Jackson Street, Hamby Avenue, and Jax Avenue. All properties will remain accessible during construction.
