UPDATE: Golder Shooting: Odessa Police Releases Name Of Victim 1/31/13

The Odessa Police Department has released a statement on the shooting on Golder.

Odessa Police confirms the victim's name is 18 Year Old Jeffery Dossey.

Dossey suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. Dossey reported to police that he was at his residence in the 800 block of West 22nd Street, when he heard yelling outside. Dossey grabbed a stick and went outside where he was confronted by two Hispanic males.

Dossey reported that one of the subjects pointed a handgun at him and fired several rounds and was struck once in the chest. Dossey attempted to drive himself to the hospital but stopped at Golder Ave and 20th and dialed 911. Dossey was transported by Odessa Fire/Rescue where he was treated for his injuries.

Dossey described the suspects as two Hispanic males, one wearing a black plain hoodie, with “handlebar’ mustache. The second suspect was wearing a gray hoodie with “South Pole” on the front. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Odessa Crime Stoppers at 432-333-TIPS.

ODESSA, TX- The Odessa Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened near Bowie Jr. High about 6:00pm Wednesday night. Police confirm the victim of a shooting is an 18-year-old male.

Officials say the victim was injured at 22nd and Golder and tried to drive himself to the hospital.

The victim then stopped and called for help at 20th and Golder, which was blocked off during the investigation.

Police say the man was shot once with non-life threatening injuries. No arrests have been made at this time.

The Principal of Bowie Jr. High, Shelia Stevenson, stated that she was not aware of any incidents related to the Jr. High School.

Sources initially believed that Joel Dossey, who lives near the crime scene, was the victim. Medical Center Hospital did say that Dossey was listed in serious condition last night.

So far Odessa Police have not confirmed Dossey's involvement in the case or the connection to the victim.

Police have not released the name of the 18-year-old man.
