Repeat Texas Child Sex Offender Gets Life Term 1/30/13

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - A North Texas man who served time for sexual assault of a child has been sentenced to life in prison for abusing a friend's 8-year-old daughter.
A jury in Fort Worth deliberated 20 minutes Tuesday before finding 36-year-old Jonathan Luther Nichols guilty of aggravated sexual assault of child under age 14.
Nichols received an automatic life prison term after the judge was shown proof of his previous aggravated sexual assault conviction. Nichols in 1995 was convicted of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl and received seven years in prison.
The latest case involved an 8-year-old girl abused in 2008 while living with her mother, who had a history of drug use. Child Protective Services in 2010 placed the girl with a family who later adopted her. That's when she reported Nichols.
