Big Spring - Big Spring Mayor Tommy Duncan took to the radio airwaves this morning to make a big announcement.

Inside our news partners, KBST Radio's studios is where mayor Duncan officially announced that he will not be seeking another term as mayor.

Callers into the show say he would have made a wonderful mayor for another term. One even said it's a sad day for Big Spring.

Mayor Duncan says the past two and a half years have been filled with challenges, but with those challenges came big accomplishments.

"Finally after all these years we got a completion for a new water and wastewater plant. That's huge for the city of Big Spring. Especially when we can experience some growth. I'm proud to say I was part of that," he said.

He says he promised his people three things.

"I promised I would lower the tax rate, work on infrastructure and give our citizens a voice. I'm proud to say I did all of that," Mayor Duncan said.

And for whoever takes his place as mayor, Duncan says research is the key to success.

Mayor Duncan says he looks forward to spending time with his grandkids and playing some golf.
